![Paulie]() Paulie (1998)

Plot: Paulie, an intelligent parrot who actually talks, relates the story of his struggle to a Russian immigrant who works as a janitor at the research institute where he is housed and neglected. Paulies story begins many years earlier when he is given as a gift to a little girl who stutters. Eventually, he teaches the girl to speak correctly but is taken away by her father because he believes the girl cannot distinguish fantasy from reality because she believes the bird can talk. Paulie goes through a series of adventures with a pawn shop owner, an ageing widow, a Mexican-American troubadour and a would be thief before being taken to the institute where he now lives.

Why do people hate hardcore matches?No Blood?!Vince Kills everything.Wrestling has gone downhill?
i mean alot of ppl on here or youtube say tna/ecw/wcw sux if talking about hardcore…some of them say that hardcore is dead….oh please….whats the point of wreslting without hardcore…its the most entertaining…id love seeing paulie come in and tell everyone that TNA IS GOING EXTREME!!!!!…lol….the extreme era would kick some *ss!!!…since wrestling is fake…why settle for old school wreslting….anyone ever heard of changes?,,,lol….but wwe is like wrestling in the 80’s and 70’s…boring slow paced pg boringness…..tna is a mix like wcw was…and ecw was mostly hardcore(thats right…ecw vince brought back is crap!! and not ecw at all)…he brought it back just to kill it..he killed the tag division..he even killed wwf…sigh..ppl say that matches dont need blood to be entertaining..umm..how is that realistic?..ppl getting "punched" 50 times during a match and never coming out bloodied up?!..i can deal with standard matches having no blood..but HELL IN A CELL??!!…oh come on!!….wrestling fans are about the most loyal of all fans it seems….and this is how vince treats us?..i used to worship wwf lol…i was the biggest nerd about it…i never missed a raw…only missed very little smackdowns…and now i get this…the pg era….it just shows u that vince could care less about wwe fans…now everyone who is like me.. has to watch tna only or roh…..all the money vince has yet look at the roster…..LOOK!!….dead tag,divas,hardcore divisions..lol…even the main event is the same ppl over and over and over again…why?a multi billion dollar company and thats all we see?…lol tna is no where close to vinces level and they have so much fresh talent…orton,cena,dx,legacy…thats 3 years of main events…those guys i just mentioned..and smackdown may have some fresher talent….but the story is terrible and most matches end in DQ anyways…ecw is the best but too boring to watch still

well ppl know what they are getting into and rvd didnt have any regrets…they actually prefer the hardcore style…the way wwe is going….we need pauliecw more than ever
I agree with you totally.All Mcmahon cares about is how many kids buy WWE merchandise. I miss hardcore and cruisewieght action.Those are the things that made me love wrestling.

i watch wwe and tna and definetly prefer tna, but as for hardcore matches,i like them if there is a story to it. Like random hardcore matches like abyss foley at bfg was a little pointless. But if we r talking old school ecw like raven v dreamer and having hardcore offcourse thats entertaining but thats because of the rivalry. WWE’s pg is stupid but from a business point of view its better for wwe to be pg as much as we hate it. And yes no blood in hell in a cell or tlc matches are just plain stupid. But an all out hardcore show just wouldnt work. You need out and out wrestling as well which is why i like TNA’s combination of hardcore with just wrestling (and far better wrestling than wwe could put on).

I am not so sure you understand that even though it is fake, in the hardcore you are talking about, people get hurt. In hardcore the body goes through a lot of abuse and I am not sure anyone signed on for that. Wrestlers do a lot of training so they can do what they do. Part of the training ivolves making sure the moves are done so no one really gets hurt. Hardcore, such as the old ECW was where wreslters actually went out and withstood the pain for the fans. Many of the wrestlers that did this did it because they could not get hired by the companies that would actually give them decent pay. Knowing that the blood would bring the blood thirsty, they sacrificed a hellofa lot for the fans. Hardcore has gone down the tubes because of what it took for those guys to do that … pain killers, drugs, steroids…. drugs period. And with all the problems lately, that has changed. There are now actual limits that the law will allow. Fake: It is billed entertainment. When they start sacrificing their bodies…such as one time Mick Foley actually had his ears ripped off and sewn back on… that was not fake; it happened… and when people start to get hurt nd need pin killers to put one foot in front of the other, there has to be a limit on what hey will do for those who are blood thirsty. Those who want to see this and think the "new wrestling" is too old school should climb in the ring sometime with one of these guys and see how long you can last and how "ridiculously silly" it really is. I understand what you are saying about…if it is fgake…why settle for… but the point you miss is that extreme nd hardcore are not fake…those guys are really sacrificing their bodies. The winner and loser part may be fake but the pain and blood and guts you see there is largely real. That is why they call it extreme. And unfortunately this has led to the backyard crap where people think it is ok to do this and kids are getting maimed and killed. So would you rather be entertained with the old school, or listen to the news and hear how another wrestler slaughtered his family while those who were yelling for blood condemn him. Or another wrestler who was once involved in hardcore was found dead in his motel room cause his heart finally gave out from all the past abuse and now his wife has to get on there and act ridiculous because the man who borught home the bacon is dead. Hope I am giving you something to think about. Not condemning your viewpoint, just letting you know…in hardcore … the injuries are real and that is what led ti a lot of steroid and drug abuse and would have eventually shut wrestling down altogether.

Oh Man. Dave is right. Fake. Right. Try a few torn muscles, busted knees and surgeries and then watching people die from all the abuse of the past and they still put themselves through and there’s your answer. Not approving or condemning. Wrestlers know what the fans want and they usually know too late after they are already in. Most really belive the fans care for them in some strange way until they see its blood and guts they want and it don’t matter whose.
But no matter. To answer your question with regard to the WWE I doubt you will see a lot of Hardcore or Extreme anything there with Linda McMahon running for the senate. Dodd would love to see a few hardcore matches and then have her for lunch over it. So, if you want Hardcore there, it ain’t gonna happen till this senate crap is over.

Just watch TNA or ROH to get your fix. WWE is for kids; save for the hickup of the Attitude era, it always has been.
