Does this dog like cats?
A couple of hours ago I picked up a stray male dog. He looks to be a pit bull/dalmation mix. He is so incredibly sweet and extremely shy. Whenever I raise my hand to pet him or anything he sort of lowers his head so it leads me to believe that he was possibly beaten and mistreated. I live in Alabama and it is so cold here right now and snowing like crazy today so I just couldn’t drive away and leave him. I couldn’t bring him in the house b/c I don’t know how he is with cats and I have a few in the house. So, I put him out in our shed with food, water and a dog house filled with straw to keep him warm. I want to keep him but I can’t if he doesn’t like cats.

Here’s how he acted with our outside cats:
*Really didn’t even pay them any attention when he was in the car and when I took him out to carry him to the shed which has a pen connected in the front
*Also, when I took him out of the car my cat, Mia, was standing probably about 3 feet away from him and didn’t do a thing. He just stood there
*After I closed and locked the pen door I walked away and did some things for about 30 minutes and a couple of the cats walked in front of the pen (he could clearly see them) and he just watched them…didn’t bark, lunge, growl or even seem to care that they were there

I sort of feel like he doesn’t have a problem with cats. What does it sound like to you. Also, he is sick I think because he has thrown up a couple of times and won’t eat the food I put out. Is it possible that he doesn’t like cats but isn’t trying to do anything to them b/c he doesn’t feel good? Or does a dog that doesn’t like cats still try to attack them whether they feel good or not?

What do you guys think?

That’s very nice of you for trying to take care of this dog, but if someone finds out you’re leaving it in a shed, you could go to jail for animal abuse. (They might take it the wrong way.) I think you should bring this dog inside, and keep the cats in a different room if you’re not sure if he’ll like cats… Once the snow storm is gone, take him to the vet. Again, bless you for trying to care for an abandoned Pit, but please don’t leave it in the shed…

He should be Ok with the cats. If not, he will soon get used to them. I would take him to a local vet if I were you though.

ya probably. its good that he doesnt growl. it seems like he might be a little scared but he will probably be fine. but if you cant keep him give him to your local shelter.

Does anyone know of a great workout regiment that I can follow? I am a novice working out at the gym solo.?
I am going to lose a good amount of weight and I would like to find a good weight loss workout plan. I am 33 year old male. I am 6′ tall and I weigh 263 pounds. My body fat is 27%. I recently began working out at LA fitness. I am taking a men’s multivitamin and 100% whey protein shakes by Gold Standard after workouts and every once in a while for a snack. I have changed my diet from eating huge meals late at night to eating a healthy breakfast and several snacks throughout the day. I have probably decreased my calorie intake by 50% for a total of about 2200 calories a day. I am avoiding white starches and carbs replacing them with proteins. I have been doing this for about three weeks so far.

I have been doing arms, chest, back, legs, one day each about five exercises or machines each day. I do use free weights when I can but not bench since I have no spot. Ten to twelve minute warm up running 1 mile and walking 1/2 mile or so. I try to finish with a run as well but so far has been shorter than my warm-up. I have never ran in my life so just the fact I am running a mile each day is great. My goal is to run a 10k or something soon. Off days of the week I just run and walk through out the day with my dog.

I got the p90x program but I can’t really do that workout at the gym. It is designed for use in the home with a dvd player or tv. I plan doing some of the work outs at home on top of going to the gym but I want to use my membership and work out there too. I would love any tips, pointers, links, whatever. Thanks!!
