i have a strange problem..i've always been someone who loved eating sweets like chocolate.?
but as i’m getting older i’m afraid of developing type 2 diabetes.i don’t really have self control when it comes to eating sweets, and that is what scares me.it’s funny because i’m not in the least bit overweight, i am 116 lbs. and i’m 5′3.i’m also 20 years old.i went to a clinic last month to get my blood drawn to see if everything was okay and the doctor basically acted like i was insane for thinking i was at risk for diabetes because i was so thin..which is dumb because weight loss is a sign of this…i’ve become extremely paranoid about getting the disease yet i still continue to excessively eat chocolate.but after today i’m making it a promise to start eating healthier.my results were normal i’m assuming because i didn’t get a call back yet it’s on my mind everyday…i’m afraid of contracting this disease and i think part of the reason i’m so scared is that when i was six years old i had a diabetes scare from my doctor.please let me know how to deal with this weird situation..i hope i’m not a hypochondriac=/thanks.

the symptoms for type 1 diabetes is weight loss and you do not get it from eating sweets! type 2 is usually found in obese and/or older people. type two may result from eating too much sweets (leading to you being overweight ) but you are very thin so there is no need to worry

Well, eating chocolate will only make you fat with bad teeth.
Sugar does NOT make you a diabetic.

Type 2 diabetics are generally overweight, over 40, and do not exercise much at all.

If you want to avoid diabetes, live the life of a diabetic - eat proper foods, avoid all junk food, avoid high fructose corn syrup like it was poison (which in many cases it is), exercise for 30 minutes a day, every day.

If you must eat chocolate, eat dark chocolate, not milk chocolate.

This is the most detailed one I’ve seen. You need at least 40 cards to play and you need way more than 4 trap cards. I’m not familiar with much of your cards and I’m just a beginner (I only played one Yu-Gi-Oh! game with an actual person, not a video game, and it was with my cousin. We didn’t follow the rules though. Only used 20 cards each because he lost his and I brought only 40 cards with me.) This website shows you the banned cards: http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/limited/

Good luck and have fun!

To other answers: Hey, if we are nerds, doesn’t that make you a bigger one since you are making fun of questions others care about while you answer these questions you don’t care about when you could be doing something you enjoy besides making fun of our hobbies.

In general the best way to improve your deck would be to make it more consistent. Running singles of lots of different cards puts you at risk of not getting what you need when you need it. It’s better to have a clear aim* and multiple copies of the cards that will help you achieve that aim. When building your deck, look at every card you’re thinking of using and see how it helps. If it doesn’t, don’t add it.

I can’t find the trap your friend uses, and I haven’t heard of it, so I don’t know how it works, but I guess it would help to use mostly cards of a single attribute, since it reduces the impact of the trap.

When looking at cards, be aware that there may well be cards which do the same thing, only better, such as Mystical Space Typhoon > De-spell. Try and look for the better cards. Also a quick-play spell is better than a normal trap with the same effect, since you can use it without setting it.

Many of your monsters are normal monsters with mediocre stats for the level, like Rude Kaiser - there are level 4 monsters with more ATK, so there’s no point in using a level 5, which needs a tribute. Normal monsters can be good if they help your deck, but unless they are particularly powerful for the level or have a lot of support, they won’t be much use.

Looking at your list, it seems like you’ve got a deck formed of most of your collection, given how the cards don’t seem to go together (like lord of d. with only one dragon), which means it may be difficult for you to modify the deck. If you want to build up a decent deck quickly and cheaply, I’d say to get 2-3 copies of one of the structure decks and combine the better cards to form one deck. The newer ones are probably better, and will be cheaper. I’m not saying you have to go out and get them this week - if you look around you’ll probably find some cheap ones somewhere - but it’s probably the easiest way to build up a reliable deck.

Finally, you’re a card short. The minimum deck size is 40 cards.

Hopefully some of this helps.

*By aim I don’t mean ‘reduce their life points to 0′, but how will you do it (which cards, when to use them, and so on).

Batman continuity retcons?
I’ve only been reading Batman comics for a year & have built up quite a collection, but I really need to get my shit straight with what is & is not in canon.

I realize that an entire series or graphic novel can be out of continuity but still have something canon in it, like….Batman Confidential now trumps Legends of the Dark Knight &….in The Killing Joke, the Joker’s origins were retconed but what he did to Barbara still stands.

I’ve also been told that while Batman Adventures, Batman & Robin, & Gotham Adventures pertain to the DC Animated Universe, the Harley Quinn series connects to it.

So what’s in & what’s out? Partialy or completely? This includes graphic novels & related series like Azrael: Agent of the Bat, Gotham Knights, Last Laugh, Salvation Run, Shadow of the Bat, Gotham Central, Emperor Joker, Dark Victory, No Man’s Land, The Long Halloween, Batman Cacophony, Gotham Girls, Countdown/Crisis (I get all of them mixed up).

You can make your explanations as long as you want. I run a fanclub for girls getting into comics & I don’t want to spoon-feed them the wrong information.

*Cracks fingers* Hoo-boy, I’m not going to waste time here so here we go!

Now, the first thing you have to understand is that after the following events ‘Infinite Crisis’ and ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths,’ occured, many charactesr were retconned. These events were just cheesy things made up by DC to get their character’s histories and powers straight which is especially why the DCU is one of the most confusing universes in the history of comics. The first and easiest method is trying to locate the ‘Elseworlds’ tag on the cover. If the Elseworlds tag is there, that means it’s an alternate-universe one-shot and not canon. A few examples do not have the Elseworlds tag however, such as the Dark Knight Returns, which was published before the Elseworlds tag was introduced.

The main series within the main Batman continuity (and canon) includes the following:

-Batman
-Batman: Confidential
-Streets of Gotham
-Batman and Robin
- Detective Comics
- Gotham City Sirens
- Red Robin
- Azrael
- Batgirl

Other miniseries titles such as Cacophony and the Widening Gyre are part of continuity too. Several series you refer too have already been cancelled including Legends of the Dark Knight, Shadow of the Bat, and Gotham Central which are all canon. The rest you mention in your fourth paragraph are all part of the main canon too. Note that the DCAU is a SEPERATE canon, meaning that the Batman Adventures is not of the mainstream canon.

Now, regarding the Killing Joke, you have to understand that there is no true origin for the Joker. Sometimes he tells it one way and other times the other and the point is that the origin is simply left up to the reader’s imagination. Alan Moore tried to complexify it abit with that story, but I wouldn’t ponder too much on that. If you’re ever confused, look up the Batman article on Wikipedia. Scroll down to the ‘Links to Related Articles’ section and open it. Under ‘Batman Publications and storylines’ will be a compulsive list divided into categories such as canon, out-of-cannon, crossovers, etc.

I hope this helps you, and props to you for making a girls comic-book fan-club too! Cheers.

why do you need these? there’s way to many, i doubt to many people are going to answer.
if you’ve seen the movies, they’ll be pretty easy to figure out…

Shelby [oh, hi mark!] | Jun 19, 2009

Wow. That list is REALLY long. Like the first answerer said, why do you need these?
In Finding Nemo, Marlin (Nemo’s dad) goes through a lot of anxiety while looking for his son.
Alice from Alice in Wonderland (I really wanted to check if you had that one; I love that movie) seems to have a little anxiety, since she’s having trouble following the skewed logic of Wonderland citizens.
As for other characters from movies near the top of the list, they seem to feel a little depressed and incomplete, like Mulan (felt that she was a disgrace to her family), Tigger (in The Tigger Movie, he didn’t have a family and felt really sad), Beast (in Beauty and the Beast, he’s scared that nobody will like him because he’s pretty darn ugly), etc. You can just watch some of these movies again (it’s fun, trust me) or at least think about the ones you remember fairly well.

The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949)

IMDB rating: 7.30

Plot: Disney brings animated versions of 2 literary works to the screen here. The first is ‘The Adventures of Mr. Toad’, based on the characters from Kenneth Grahame’s ‘The Wind in the Willows’. The second is based on Washinton Irving’s masterpiece ‘The Headless Horseman’, in which schoolteacher Ichabod Crane, smitten with Katrina Van Tassel, attends a party hosted by her father. Town thug Brom Bones, who also has his eye on Katrina, tries to intimidate Ichabod with the chilling story of ‘The Headless Horseman’, a ghost of a soldier in the revolutionary war who lost his head in a fight. When Ichabod rides home through Sleepy Hollow late at night, he finds himself confronted by the Headless Horseman who wants Ichabod’s head for himself! Will Ichabod escape the terrifying, sword-wielding ghost….or will the Headless Horseman claim Ichabod’s head for himself?

When Disney makes movies based on historical events is it always true?
Example Of Historical Disney Movies:
Mulan
Mulan 2
Pocahontas
Pocahontas 2
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
The Sword in the Stone
Robin Hood
Hercules
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Atlantis: Milo’s Return
Dinosaur
National Treasure
National Treasure 2 : Book of Secrets
A Kid in King Arthur’s Court
Never Cry Wolf

Not sure what your question is trying to say, because it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

But I think you are only trying to say that classic Disney movies are only based from classic fairy tales, and are often credited by the people who had made historical facts from them and by authors who have written books about them.

Take Aladdin for example… it’s a classic Arabian tale, that may have origonated from 101 Arabian Nights, or it might have been writen and adaopted by a french author… or so is told if you know you triva and facts! Says so on the pop facts if you say have the special edition 2 Disk Aladdin DVD!

Or some of the movies are based on historical people, like Pocohontas for example… also Anastasia is another good example, but that’s a FOX movie! ;)

And Hercules and King Arthur are based of Greek and Arthurian myths and mythology! :D

Even Atlantis: The Lost Empire is based of the myth and mystery if Atlantis truly exist or not; based by historians!

Also Atlantis is one of my all time favorites, because Milo is my favorite & is voiced by Michael J. Fox! :D

I do got to add all of the movies are my favorites! :D

I’m a Big OMG classic Disney movie fan by the way!
:D

Sleeping Beauty is my number 1 all time favorite.
Followed by Aladdin, and The Sword in the Stone!
Those are my top 3 favorite Disney classics!
:D

Even A Kid in King Arthur’s Court is my all time favorite, especially since it’s my favorite version of the classic story A Connetict Yankie in King Arthur’s Court!
And also because Thomas Ian Nicholas was so cool and such a great child actor back then! :D

Even since all of those movies are my favorites, I can practically recite all of my favorite quotes from the movies… even from Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, the Sword in the Stone, and A Kid in King Arthur’s Court! :D

Josh-Inuysha-Dude! | Feb 28, 2008

They’re mostly based on speculation, especially for disney cartoon movies. And if they are truly based on an actual event or person (Mulan), things are changed or added, mostly for entertainment value.
The Injun | Feb 28, 2008

…No.

Mulan never had a dragon, John Smith was not Pocahontas’s lover (besides, he was in his 30’s and she was about 12), there is no solid information saying Robin Hood ever existed, Atlantis is Atlantis, and National Treasure just does a bunch of historical name-dropping and fits it with far-fetched ties.

Hercules was pretty spot on, though (for what you can put in a kids movie).
Jeff R | Feb 28, 2008

Kid in King Arthurs court, historical events?
These movies involve magic, time travel, and talking animals.
Are you kidding me?
Shimmy in 2012 | Feb 28, 2008

Hercules???? LOL LOL LOL LOL

Disney’s animated Hercules was sooooooo…… far from the true myth/story.

I mean, who would’ve thought that Hercules is the son of Hera??? In most Greek mythology I’ve read, Hercules is NOT Hera’s son. Hera hates him so much and tries desperately to ruin his life bcoz in her eyes, Hercules is the symbol of Zeus’ betrayal to her.
me, myself, and I | Feb 28, 2008

They definately follow a basic summary of the stories as we know them to be true.
You have listed many movies which are all purely fictional. everything from mulan 2 down (excepting Pocahontas 1 not 2) are stories of fiction, made up for entertainment value.

Disney creates films for families to enjoy, especially children. They alter, add and take away parts of the story to keep the audience entertained. You’ll notice something is always happening in disney films. In real life Mulan and Pocahontas would have had some very boring times where nothing at was happening and all they could do is wait.

"Never Cry Wolf" might be closest to the real-life story. Try reading the Farley Mowat book as a comparison. I looked at the IMDB site, and it lists only one goff, so it’s difficult to judge its overall accuracy.

I would say the rest are a far cry from the original myths, legends, folklore and historical tales.

Heavy Metal (1981)

IMDB rating: 6.30

Plot: An astronaut brings home a glowing green orb for his daughter. However, the orb kills him and corners the girl for its purposes. Claiming to the embodiment of all evil, the malevolent sphere, known as the Loc-Nar, terrorizes the little girl by showing a series of bizarre and fantastic tales it has influenced. The first is “Harry Canyon,” a cynical taxi driver in a squalid futuristic New York who finds himself involved with a damsel in distress who is relentlessly pursued by murderous thugs who desire the Loc-Nar her archaeologist father found. The second is “Den” which chronicles the adventures of a nerdish boy who is thrown into the fantasy world of Neverwhere, where he is transformed into a studly naked muscle-man, desired by beautiful women, who must get involved in a conflict revolving around possession of the Loc-Nar. The third is “Captain Sternn” where the title character is a handsome but irredeemable scoundrel who stands accused in a trial that Loc-Nar throws into chaos. The fourth is “B-17″, where a World War II bomber plane limps home after a bombing run, only to have the Loc-Nar ram into it and revive the dead crew members as murderous zombies. The next is “So Beautiful, So Dangerous” where a buxom secretary at the Pentagon is abducted by stoned alien wastrels and a oversexed robot. The final story is “Taarna”, where the Loc-Nar has to come to a future Earth and changes a peaceful people into a horde of murderous barbarians who rampage with genocidal zeal. Only the last Tarackian, a silent swords-woman known as Taarna, can avenge the victims and stop the Loc-Nar.

Would a goth sort of guy date a half black/half white girl?
There’s a guy I like that’s sort of goth.He likes heavy metal music,I think he’s really cool and I like him alot.I have really light skin and it’s obvious that I’m mixed.
So do you think he’d go out with a pretty half black/half white girl or reject me because of my black side?

Color won’t matter in love. But if he rejects you, it’s only because he may like other people with different personalities or features. Give it a shot and you will never know until you try.

Who made the REALLY old version of "The Jungle Book" cartoon with blood and gore and where can I find it?
There is a very old version of the Jungle Book animation I saw when I was a kid, and I liked it better than the Disney version. It was a very long time ago so I can only remember certain little details. Forgive me if incorrectly depict some of the factors:

The animation style was much different than the Disney version. It was VERY bloody - nearly all of Mowgli’s wolf family dies (I know the wolf pack leader was a white wolf and he was very old) and Kaa is killed by Mowgli after eating several monkies whole. Baghira(sp?) the panther is actually a female with cubs, and the tiger, Shere Kahn(sp? lol), has a small Jackel that follows him around for comic relief or…something, and Mowgli definitely did not stay a child throughout the movie.

I can’t find clips of it anywhere on YouTube since all I get is the live-action movie and the Disney one, and I want to know where I can find it. Who is the creator? Does it go by a different title other than "The Jungle Book"?

All help is appreciated! Thanks!
I think it’s the ORIGINAL Jungle Book. Not Disney or whatever. The ORIGINAL >_<

Hey there,

I’m not sure this is it, but could it be Maugli from 1973?

Arthur and the Invisibles (2006)

IMDB rating: 5.70

Plot: Arthur is a spirited ten-year old whose parents are away looking for work, whose eccentric grandfather has been missing for several years, and who lives with his grandmother in a country house that, in two days, will be repossessed, torn down, and turned into a block of flats unless Arthur’s grandfather returns to sign some papers and pay off the family debt. Arthur discovers that the key to success lies in his own descent into the land of the Minimoys, creatures no larger than a tooth, whom his grandfather helped relocate to their garden. Somewhere among them is hidden a pile of rubies, too. Can Arthur be of stout heart and save the day? Romance beckons as well, and a villain lurks.

I have read To Kill a Mockingbird and Lord of the Flies. They are both pretty good. Lord of the Flies is kind of weird though. Of those two I would recommend To Kill a Mockingbird. It is just a good book.
